SUMMARY:Canada at COP30: A Conversation with Civil Society
DESCRIPTION:Climate impacts are becoming more frequent and severe, and the gap is widening between current plans and what’s needed for a safer future. Both within Canada and at the global level, civil society plays a critical role in driving forward climate action and ambition. Join us for a conversation between a high-level representative of the Canadian government and members of Climate Action Network Canada (CAN-Rac), Canada’s largest network of organizations working on climate and energy issues. In this bilingual discussion, moderated by CAN-Rac’s Executive Director Caroline Brouillette, civil society and government will share their priorities for COP30 and perspectives on the negotiations. This will be an opportunity to exchange ideas and questions on how Canada can play a constructive role at COP30—and on the work that needs to be done at home to set Canada up to succeed amid the global energy transition.
