SUMMARY:Accelerating Industrial Decarbonisation in Emerging Economies: Lessons from an exemplar in the cement sector
DESCRIPTION:This session will highlight the progress, lessons learned, and next steps in advancing cement decarbonization efforts globally. Canada will present its success in domestic cement decarbonization and its leadership role as co-chair of the Cement Breakthrough, including knowledge exchange, technology transfer and funding mechanisms to support developing economies. UNIDO will outline Canada’s contributions and the organization’s broader role in highlighting the ongoing project activities towards decarbonization and net zero industry. Thailand will share experiences on national progress, benefits achieved, and planned next steps in implementing industry transition roadmap. GCCA will provide the global and industry context, linking these efforts to international roadmaps, reflecting on lessons learned, and identifying the way forward for achieving sustainable, low-carbon industrial development.
